The Department of Mathematics organized an enriching educational excursion to the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata on 14th February 2025 for Class XI students. A total of 71 students, accompanied by 4 faculty members, participated in this insightful visit. The journey began with an interactive session by Dr. Sumitra Purkayastha, a senior professor at ISI, who spoke about the history of ISI, the importance of Mathematics and Statistics, and various academic courses like B.Stat & M.Math. The students then explored the ISI library, diving into a treasure trove of knowledge. A major highlight was the Geology Department, where students witnessed the fossilized bones of Barapasaurus Tagorei and learned about Geology as a career. The excursion was a truly inspiring experience, enriching students with knowledge and curiosity for academic excellence!
